What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is often referred to as a help-based talk therapy. Psychotherapists collaborate with clients to help address disruptive thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and behaviours which may be affecting their daily functions. Areas of focus and specific issues addressed are wide ranged (e.g., social, family and occupational relationships, communication styles, thinking pattens, automatic reactions, emotional states).

Some couple and family methods include transgenerational, experiential, behavioural, cognitive-behavioural, structural, strategic, social construction, population-based, evidence-based, and psychodynamic.
